Mr. Calvin Tonga, PhD, Biologist, infectious disease, immunization, and program management expert

Calvin holds a PhD in Biology (orientation Parasitology) at the University of Douala and a Diploma in Nursing from the Douala School of Nursing.

He is a public health professional with 14 years of relevant working experience at different levels of the health pyramid.
Calvin has experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation, data management and performance-based financing; he has contributed to the development of pandemic influenza preparation and response plan in two countries and the development of RMNCHA+N investment case in 4 countries.
He has worked in Cameroon, Burundi, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Uganda, and Zambia.
As a scientist, he has published several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, on infectious disease control, immunization, and sport physiology.
He began working with hera as a consultant in 2015 and became a hera associate in 2021.
Calvin is fluent in French and English.

A team from hera undertook a mission to evaluate a Results-Based Financing (RBF) pilot program for UNFPA family planning supplies. Their tasks involved verifying reported results through case studies and assessing the program's efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment to principles, providing valuable insights for improving the initiative's impact and promoting collaboration among stakeholders.
