Ms. Katrien De Muynck, MA in History, Complementary Degree in International Relations and Conflict Management, Master in International Solidarity Action from Europe (°1981)
Katrien De Muynck joined hera in 2009 as Project Officer and Business Development Officer.
At the hera office, Katrien is the one always looking out for new business opportunities. She checks out possible interesting tenders and is then responsible for coordinating and contributing to the preparation of expressions of interest and technical and financial proposals. This often involves bringing together a qualified team and exploring partnerships with other consultancy firms to strengthen the bid even further.
In her position as Project Officer, she also provides support to the Director and her colleague project officer for the practical organisation of the consultancy assignments. She takes care of starting up the mission, is the point of contact both for the consultant and the client all through the assignment and assures the standard quality check and editing of reports. She is moreover responsible for the entire project management of some larger contracts, such as the DFID funded Bridging Support to Essential Medicines programme in Burundi or the Capacity Building and Supply Chain Management Assistance in Guinea Bissau financed by the Global Fund.
Previously Katrien has been working in Niger for the Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC) as focal point for external communication at the representation of the BTC in Niamey. She is hence familiar with the context in which most of our consultancy assignments take place.
Before that she had already gained experience in all aspects of communication worldwide through her work for Vanbreda International, a company specialised in managing cross-border health insurance and employee benefits plans for international organisations (e.g. the UN). There she has been in contact on a daily basis with insured, health institutions and care providers all over the world.
Part of Katrien's studies took place in France, Spain and the United Kingdom. During these stays she got involved with Amnesty International as a volunteer at the National Secretariats in Spain (member of the youth team) and Scotland (campaigns assistant).
Katrien is fluent in Dutch, English, French and Spanish and has a basic knowledge of Portuguese.
