Final evaluation of the project Consolidating Cardiovascular Services at the national cardiac centre in Mongolia

hera was commissioned by Lux-Dev to conduct an evaluation of the MON006 project in Mongolia. The project, initiated in 2017, focuses on the development of basic and advanced cardiology and cardio-surgery services in the country to address the burden of cardiovascular diseases. Lux Dev has been providing technical and financial assistance in this area since 2002. The project includes innovative aspects such as a telemedicine system connecting local doctors and patients to higher levels of care, as well as international missions to coach local cardiovascular specialists. The evaluation team, led by René Dubbeldam, assessed the project's impact on strengthening cardiovascular services and acknowledged its significant progress. The sustainability of institutional and financial support remains a challenge. The evaluation team provided practical recommendations for the formulation of the next phase of the project.
