hera leads the HISP Consortium, Advancing Health and Social Justice
We are delighted to announce that hera, in steadfast commitment to the values of equity, social justice, and human rights-based development, was recently awarded another four-year contract to lead the consortium for the Knowledge Hub on Health, Socio-Economic Inequalities, and Social Protection (HISP). This follows two similar successful Health Advisory Service contracts that hera implemented between 2014 and 2022.
The HISP consortium, which includes AEDES, Alter, Ginger International, EPRD, and SPRI Global, was established to provide strategic support to the European Union (EU) in implementing policies and programmes pertaining to global health, socio-economic inequalities, and social protection.
The HISP, under the stewardship of Leo Devillé (Project Director) and François Boillot (Team Leader), works with colleagues in the Directorates-General for International Partnerships (INTPA) and for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) and EU Delegations.
The HISP provides a wide range of expertise in areas related to development cooperation and global health, socio-economic inequalities, and social protection. The core team includes four public health experts - Allison Beattie, Matthias Reinicke, Grégoire Lacoin, and Diana Isabel Sotomayor; one expert in social protection: Nadia Giske and one expert in socio-economic inequalities. Alice Peschiutta from the hera office provides administrative support and helps coordinate HISP activities. Additionally, the HISP Core Team can draw from a pool of over 1,000 experts who can be mobilised on a short-term basis as required.
As leader of the HISP consortium, hera aims to assist DGs INTPA and NEAR in defining and implementing EU policies and programmes through services such as the development of policy briefs and technical reports, appraisal of new trends in relevant fields, contribution to knowledge management processes, and support to communication and visibility activities. This includes providing guidance to EU Delegations in identifying SDG-focused country programmes and engagement with selected partners.
The HISP project reflects hera and its consortium partners' dedication to the EU values of equity and social justice, as well as our shared goals toward inclusive and sustainable development. This initiative builds upon our long-standing commitment and experience in advancing global health and social protection.
With the HISP, hera continues its mission to support international health cooperation, enabling sustainable, impactful improvements in global health, and promoting social protection. We thank all our partners and stakeholders for their continued support and look forward to the impact this new chapter will bring.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and make strides in these vital areas of public health and social justice.
