Wilbert Bannenberg, MD, MPH, Pharmaceutical systems expert
Pharmaceutical systems: National Medicines Policy development and implementation support, access to essential medicines, regulatory systems support, drug legislation, intellectual property rights issues and medicines, drug financing, quantification of essential drugs' needs, selection of essential drugs and formulary development, rational use of drugs, training, capacity building and networking.
Wilbert Bannenberg joined hera in 2002.
His experience is in Anglophone Africa (Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia), the Caribbean (Suriname) and Central Asia (Mongolia).
Apart from hera, Wilbert is the founder of E-DRUG, an internet community on essential medicines. He is also supporting NGO’s and teaching about access to medicines at various Universities. In 2018 he set up the Pharmaceutical Accountability Foundation, which aims to ensure access to excessively priced medicines using legal procedures and Human Rights principles.
